His wife comes back from shopping and pours him a glass of Guinness. He enjoys the Guinness, but tries not to let it show. Advert concludes with shot of wicker basket containing take home bottles and caption reading: "Take Home Guinness". VO states: "Take home Guinness, and make a lot of it". Colour television commercial for Draught Guinness. Advert opens with view of lower half of bar counter with brass footrest and black and white tiled floor. Camera pans to right of screen as shots dissolve to other, similar views featuring the legs of drinkers as they stand or sit at the bar. VO narrates the various types of drinkers as indicated by the habits they display while waiting at the bar until the camera arrives at the Guinness drinker and pans upwards to reveal a man and woman standing leisurely at a bar drinking Draught Guinness: "Watch the calm unhurried way they enjoy one of the most rewarding drinks in the world". Advert concludes as camera pans down once more to show only lower half of bar and legs of man and woman. VO: "Ask for Guinness where you see this sign ". Won Silver at Cannes 1976. Agency: JWT. They ask the landlady to see the menu, in response to which the woman reels its contents off from memory. The men place their order and ask for the landlady's recommendation for a bottle of something to go with it. VO: "There's one drink at lunchtime that because of its dry, full flavour that goes down exceptionally well with... ". Cut to view of landlady opening a bottle of Guiness and pouring some into the bottom of a Wellington goblet. Cut to close up view of Guinness being poured into a Waterford tankard as the woman watches intently. VO: "It's a bit of an art pouring a pint of Guinness. You pour it slowly and evenly to conjure the perfect head, clean and white, from out of the cool, dark depths of the beer. "The barman looks at the woman and proceeds to draw a heart shape on the foam head of the pint before placing it on the counter as the woman titters with laughter. A man lifts it to his face and proceeds to make faces at his reflection in the glass. VO: "You may have noticed that Guinness is different from other beers. There's no secret about this. It's the way we roast our barley that gives Guinness its dark, distinctive looks and its clean, dry taste. Which, on reflection, is why some people can't see themselves drinking any other beer". Colour television advertisement for Guinness Extra Stout. Advert opens with shot of a man ordering two bottles of Guinness and a bucket of ice water through an external hatch in a bar on a hot day. Landlord responds that they won't need the ice water as he has Cold Guinness, explaining: "I always keep the Guinness on the cold shelf when the weather's hot. It's still Guinness, still keeps its head, still keeps its flavour" as he pours two cold bottles into Wellington goblets and hands them to the men. The men take a drink, before asking again for the ice water, explaining that Samson doesn't like Guinness. They look round the pub and see some people whose actions imply that they could still be doing their normal days work: a machine operator, bus conductress, secretary, etc. VO: "After work, there are some people who relax and there are some who carry on working." The men are finally served, and VO describes the pouring process over close up of draught pour into tankard glass.
