Colour television commercial for take home Guinness Extra Stout. Advert opens with shot of a man in armchair with a cat in his lap drinking a glass of Guinness. He finishes the glass of Guinness and walks out of shot, leaving the cat on the chair. VO: "If you're just finishing a glass of Guinness, are you sure where the next one's coming from? You've still time to pop out and buy some. Meanwhile, we'll play some music for your wife." Advert concludes with shot of six pack of take home Guinness against a musical background. Won silver at Cannes in 1971. Agency: JWT

Colour television commercial for ice cold Guinness Extra Stout. Advert opens with customer asking barman for an ice cold Guinness. The barman is disgusted by the concept of cold Guinness and refuses to serve the customer. The customer then introduces the barman to his much larger brother, and the barman - intimidated - complies with his request, placing several bottles of Guinness in the cooler behind the bar. Advert concludes with shot of two Wellington goblets on the bar containing cold Guinness. A bottle is placed down as well before two hands lift the glasses out of shot. Colour television commercial for Draught Guinness. Advert opens with group of men drinking, chatting and laughing in a bar. One man asks if he can change his drink before the next order is placed, and another man proceeds to order three pints of 'cooking' [ordinary bitter] and a pint of Guinness. Cut to close up view of barman pouring a pint of Draught Guinness into a Waterford tankard. Advert concludes with view of man drinking pint, before placing the almost-empty tankard back on the counter. Voiceover: "At a certain point in the evening, some men like to change to a beer that tastes a bit different, our beer. Cut to shots of man drinking from hip flask, younger man drinking from a bottle of wine with a straw, older man drinking from stoneware flagon. Cut to shot of six pack of bottled Guinness Extra Stout in a cardboard outer being passed around among raucous men, drinking and singing at the back of the bus. Voiceover: "Whatever the others drink, the real lads stick to beer, and the beer they prefer is the most popular beer in Britain". Men cheer as camera follows a pipe leading from the rear emergency exist window of the bus and connected to Guinness bulk tanker travelling closely behind. Advert concludes with angled close up of "Guinness For You" sign on tanker as voiceover says: "Trouble was, last year they ran out. So this year, they're taking a little extra". Colour television commercial for Draught Guinness. Advert opens with group of men ordering drinks at a bar: "One pint of sea, one pint of keg, one pint of extra yellow, and two pints of Guinness". Cut to shot of dimpled three dimpled tankards placed on the bar as the men try to determine which is which. Two pints of Draught Guinness in Waterford tankards are then placed on the bar. Advert concludes with one man picking up his pint of Guinness and downing it in one go as one of his friends looks on in longingly. Agency: JWT.

Colour television commercial for Guinness Extra Stout. Advert opens with view of a hand holding the stem of a Wellington goblet as it is filled with Guinness. Camera pans upwards and another bottle is heard being opened in the background as it is revealed that that it is an extra tall, double Guinness goblet that can hold two bottles of stout. VO explains that the only thing that can improve the taste of Guinness is another bottle of Guinness. Advert concludes as foam head reaches rim of glass and camera pans out to reveal the double goblet in full with two empty bottles of Guinness alongside it. VO: "Next time you feel particularly thirsty, try it. You'll find it's exactly twice as good as one bottle". Agency: JWT.

An audible hiss is heard as a bottle of Guinness is opened and camera pans out to reveal his wife at his side pouring a bottle of Guinness into a Wellington goblet. Colour television commercial for Guinness Extra Stout. Advert opens with two men standing in a dimly lit port harbour at night. The situation appears shady, as if they are about to commit some wrongdoing. The older man addresses the younger man: "Tonight's the night, then. Are you sure you want to do it?" The young man says yes and the two walk off. Cut to close up of both men appearing from behind a drawn curtain and entering a room as the older man says: "I'll do the talking". Camera pans out to reveal they are entering a bar. Older man approaches the counter and orders two Guinness. VO: "The first time's a bit of a shock because our beer tastes clean and very dry, but every night in pubs all over Britain there are people trying it. And a lot of them live to say...". Cut to young man ordering: "... same again". Agency: JWT.

Advert opens with close up view of a man pouring Guinness from a bottle into a Wellington goblet before he lifts it to his mouth to drink. Cut to view of he and his friend sitting at a table in a bar as the friend tells him the Guinness he's drinking is a forgery. In an effort to refute his friend's claim, the man passes him his glass to drink from. His friend proceeds to drink the entire glass in one go as his friend looks on in dismay. View from pub interior as door opens before man looks in and enters. All the locals stop chatting and watch the stranger as he approaches the bar and orders a Guinness. The barmaid hands him a bottle and glass and the man smiles as he pours into a branded Wellington goblet glass. VO: "When a man finds himself far from home and he fancies a quick one, it's comforting to know that there's one beer he can always be sure of finding. One that he knows will taste just as good as it does in his own local". The man hestiates before drinking as he meets eyes with other drinkers who seem to accept him for his choice and chatter begins again. Advert concludes with view of man savouring his Guinness. A man in tells his friend of the imminent threat posed by martians landing on Earth. His friend is unphased by this news as he drinks from his glass of Guinness. Barman calls for last orders as the friend remarks absentmindedly: "That's a pity". Advert concludes with view of friend continuing to drink from his glass of Guinness. VO: "Once a year, something strange happens to our weather. It's called summer, and it's been known to last nearly a week". A bottle is removed from the fridge followed by close up of head pour as VO explains that the most effective remedy for summer heat is an ice cold Guinness.
